Creative Date Ideas For Houston Couples

The realization that it was time for some creative dating ideas sunk in when the shrieking voice belted ”get out of my room”. The words from one of my old favorite songs by the Spinners “I’ll Be Around” sprang into my mind.

There's always a chance
A tiny spark remains,
And sparks turn into flames
And love can burn once again, but I know you know
Whenever you call me, I'll be there

It wasn’t hard to overlook the incident and not take it personal. The stress my partner was experiencing while undergoing cancer treatment can cause a some serious mood swings. Mr. Serious took over my body and started asking a few too many questions about the treatment, thinking that it would be a good way to start a conversation not a fight.

I walked slowly down the hall pass the nurses station before disappearing into the dimly lit elevator.

There are a lot of relationship experts that have books and audio CDs on dating. Once home I began an online search for some killa ideas of what to do on a date.
Anyone who is serious about their relationship needs to have plenty of date ideas on hand at all times. Surefire ways that maximize and enhance the few precious minutes you have to spend with your partner.

There are a couple of ways to do this. You can rack your brain thinking of things to do as a couple or get some help from experts.

Date Ideas From An Expert

Other things you can learn:
  • How to use date nights as a way to enhance a relationship.
  • Techniques that can make your dates fresh and lively.
  • Use themed date ideas to break the monotony of doing the same old stuff.
  • Improve your dating routine

There are a lot of relationship experts that have books and audio CDs on the subject. There was some good info on Ask Men and Cosmopolitan, but what really hit home was information from Micheal Webb. He has been on radio and several TV shows: Oprah, The 700 Club, and Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.

His tips are really useful for spicing up a dull relationship and includes a some do’s and don’ts of dating. They can add some wow to a regular date.

Things To Do On A Date

We can all benefit from having a few good creative date ideas at our finger tips on how to put together dates that are romantic and memorable.
Things like these ideas.

Idea #1

On your next date to the beach collect driftwood. When you get home, have a quote or I Love (fill in the blank) carved into the wood.

Idea #2

Surprise your partner by stopping by their job and placing a post It on the windshield
saying. Redeem this for a fabulous time at _____ with the time and address of the place for your date.

Idea # 3

During your mates birthday month, why just celebrate the date, celebrate the month. One weekend take her to her favorite park for a picnic, The 2nd weekend take her to the favorite store. For the 3rd weekend a favorite restaurant. The week of their birthday let them pick.

Things To Do In Houston Tx This Weekend

A few other creative ways that I considered to supercharge a weekend date in Houston include:

Murder Mystery Cruise

A fun thing to do on weekends is to go cruising around Clear Lake and Galveston Bay on-board a “Starfleet” yacht for a couple of hours. What makes this trip special is the:

* Gourmet Dinner Buffet
* Murder Mystery Dinner Theater with Audience Participation
* Soft Drinks, Coffee, Tea and Juices

Murder Mystery Theater

You date will be full of fun, thrills, and sing-along songs to keep you laughing and humming long after the evening's over. They are all a part of the alluring events happening at the murder mystery theater in Houston.

Need More date ideas?

This is just a sampling of the kind of creative date ideas that you will come up with once you get your hands on a copy of “300 Creative Dates” and your creative juices start flowing. These ideas on how to enhance a date night came from some of the relationship advice published by Micheal Webb called "The World's Most Romantic Man” by some, author of “300 Creative Dates”. Many of his e-books can be conveniently download to your PC or laptop, click here to preview “300 Creative Dates”.

There are tons of special things couples enjoy doing together. We just don’t get to do them often enough and end up forgetting about them. Everyone can use a few little relationship enhancers like these that can endear you to your spouse, lover or significant other.

Midtown Houston Swimming Programs

person swimming in a pool in Houston

If you're looking for a cool place to swim a few laps or a Midtown Houston swimming program for the young'uns, is high on your list of things to do in Houston, here's the 411 for you.

The water's just fine come on in was one of the trademark signs on the few swimming pools in Houston back in the day. Most of us couldn't wait for the pools to open and took to the ditches, ponds and irrigation sloughs that were filled with water after the springtime rains.

Now, there are recreation centers and community centers offering swimming lessons just about all over the city. Finding as many places as possible to stay cool and wet is a pretty easy thing to do.

Private Swimming Pools

Blue Triangle Community Center

The indoor pool at the local community center in Houston is currently open on weekends from about 1:30 to 5:30 for open swimming. It features a kiddie pool and a huge heated pool where you can get in a few laps or just wade around. They have certified life guards on duty and are trying to form a swim team.

They do charge $1.00 for members and $5.00 for non-members which is dirt cheap for taking a dip in the recently remodeled pool that uses a salt water system. Their pool is also available to any group for a fee.

Public Swimming Pools

If you plan to get outdoors with the family during the dog days of summer and spend a few hours soaking in the local cement pond/pool. The City of Houston has public swimming pools in most neighborhoods and just about all of the large parks. If your apartments in and around Midtown Houston doesn't have a pool,(check our Midtown living page to find apartments and condos in Midtown with a swimming pool) have no fear, here's a list of pools in the area.

EP(Emancipation Park)
MacGregor Park
Ervan Chew
Metropolitan Multi-Service Center

Houston Parks and Rec Swimming Pools

These local swimming holes are a lot safer than the old-school places where I learned to swim. All of them have trained life guards and the City Of Houston operates a heated indoor natatorium where citizens with disabilities can take part in swimming, wheelchair sports and other activities at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center on West Gray.

Traditionally public pools are closed during the fall and winter seasons. They usually reopen around Memorial Day weekend. If you want to get more details about the public pool schedule in Houston I recommend visiting these places on the web.

Summer Swim Programs In Houston

If you're looking for quality youth summer camp, swim programs, water baby training or water aerobics classes for adults the Blue Triangle, located close to downtown on McGowen Street, offers services that are worth checking out.

I've tried to cover all of the swimming activities in and around Midtown Houston. Time and space won't allow me to give you all the details about every swimming pool in the city. If I missed your program or you know of one that I should cover leave me a note in the comment section.

This weekend in Houston there are plenty of diversions in and around the city. I've got the latest scoop on where to find some magnificent music, a wonderful chance to learn belly dancing and a tip on a hot fishing spot for outdoorsman.

Houston Midtown

We can all do some small things to reduce our carbon footprints. One key things is to shop closer to home. For many of us that could be as simple as a weekly visit to the Midtown Farmers market.

Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Houston

dancers outdoor modern dance performance

One of the fun things to do in Houston is to get a free sample of Houston's Theater District's first class entertainment. The District's annual "Open House" in downtown Houston is on tap for this weekend. This weekend event is for the entire community.

The district invites all of us out for a chance to see an up-close and personal look at the performing arts organizations that call the downtown district home, from the Grand Opera to Houston Ballet.

The annual open house offers plenty of fun and enjoyment for local residents who make the trek to the event in downtown Houston. Visitors get to experience dance, music and backstage tours and did I mention:

Free food
Instrument petting zoo
meet and greet with performers
A peak into the costume trunk

Deals On Season Subscriptions To Houston Performing Arts

There is always something fun to do at the district's "open house weekend" in downtown Houston. It's primarily a kickoff for the fall season. A family-friendly day of performances and pampering from the 9 local performing arts organizations that call the Theater District home.

If you're thinking about becoming a patron of the arts, this is a good time to get a marvelous deal on your season subscriptions.

The Houston Symphony takes a break from performing on the road to be on hand at the event, to enchant the the hometown crowd with rousing performances. All of the performing arts organizations from Theater Under The Stars to the Alley, like to show off their talented resident performers and will have something entertaining for all of us.

Downtown Houston's Got Soul and Culchcha

One of the rumors that's really a hard fact is, that open house is the best time to get special ticket packages for some of the upcoming events at a huge saving. On top of that, it's a chance for everyone from the average Joe to the serious theater crowd, to get previews of the season lineup for the Symphony, Theater Under The Stars, the Alley and the rest of the Theater District's resident performing arts organizations.

For anyone seeking something fun to do this weekend in Houston, checking out this cool downtown Houston event is a no-brainer. Come on out and absorb some of the southern refined culchcha in the Theater District. If you need to gather additional information you can visit their websapce houstontheaterdisrtict.org.
