This weekend you can meet Susan Robb from Seattle who will help you try your hand at Japanese kite making using recycled materials.

Bring the kids to Downtown Houston to participate in the young writers workshop in the park Saturdays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Regarded as Houston’s only open, free writing workshop for kids, Writers in the Schools in and HPL Express, sponsors this weekend creative, fun event.

Thursday, May 28 – Sunday, May 31 Light as Air is an outdoor art exhibition of inflatable sculptures you'll love. The whimsical styles and designs are on display throughout Discovery Green.

Hermann Park

Hermann Park has free entertainment on Saturday evening. The cultural event introduces Houston audiences this weekend to Chinese dance. Experience a choreographic journey uniting new and award-winning authentic Chinese classical and folk dances from China's renown choreographers with the newest modern jazz and hip-hop works by Houston choreographers.
Many of the dances are inspired by nature, portraying a painted sky, willows in the wind, and blossoms in the rain. The free presentation of Eastern dances will also include top dancers from Chinatown's Mitsi Dancing School.

Where: Miller Theater

Barring a rainy weekend, the best place to take your crew for free events in Houston this weekend is Downtown Houston. It's one of the easiest places to access from anywhere in town.

Houston Weekend

This Houston weekend is filled with enough social activities and fun things to do that you'll have a glide in your stride, a deep in your hip and smile as wide as the Rio Grand on your face all week.
It's definitely the time to hit the parks. At Hermann Park and in Downtown Houston at Discovery Green, you'll find exciting outdoor activities . The list of what's happening in and around Midtown Houston Saturday and Sunday will make it rewarding for you to get out of that house robe and into some shorts and a T-shirt, for those of us who avoided becoming roadwarriors this holiday weekend.

Hermann Park

Its 15th year promises to be one of the best ever, Dancin’ in the Street…Motown & More Revues at Miller Outdoor Theatre!



The Motown & More Revue performances feature the hip soul music from the 1950’s through today. BACE Poduction's actors recreate the legendary soul artists, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, the Temptations, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and lots others.

This weekends shows ads a evening of fashion to the mix, with members of the local NFL Players Association sporting Mens Wearhouse formal wear and the ladies strutting the sexy stuff from Catherine’s women’s clothiers.
This Houston weekend will be remembered for the Dancin’ in the Street's fashions, funk and fun!
