4 Old-school Summer Activities In Houston Fading Away

In the good ol’days there were 4 activities in Houston that headlined everyone's to do list. On holidays in Houston and in the summertime,  crowds from Austin flocked here to party, because we had the best events in the state, plus they were free.

Westheimer Block Party
The Annual 4th of July celebration
Juneteenth Festival
Bob Marley Festival

The Houston events listed above were originally awesome experiences for the community.  Now,  they have morphed into fabulous big ticket shows with star-studded  performances. They faintly carry whiffs of the old communal events that highlighted summer activity calendars.

So what’s a guy to do if the kids are restless and you need to get them out of the house or it’s your spirit that longs to commune with nature?  Let not your heart be troubled.  Why not take a different  fantastic voyage in the Bayou City each weekend this summer.

Your mission,  should you choose to accept it,  is to spend time enjoying some fabulous places where couples, families and everyone with a pulse can kick back,  relax and laissez Les bons temps rouler (let the good times roll).

Live Music
Romantic Dining
Free Events
Events in Houston Museum District
Movies and Shows
Houston Attractions-Waterfront entertainment

There are new fun activities tucked into every nook and cranny in Houston. You can kick back and let your hair down  inside or outside the Loop. The biggest choice is deciding where to begin downtown or Midtown Houston where many of the activities are family-friendly events. For those of you that want to escape the city lights, Kemah will gladly accept you as part of its in-crowd.

Even on a busted budget,  as long as you can hustle up some gas money or bus fare we are spillin the beans on places where you can find free shows and performances.
