That’s Love

This musical comedy spews energy, song, dance and inspiration! It's an original stage play that tugs at your emotions like a Bonnie & Clyde love story, except the backdrop for most of the action, is on the grounds of a church presumed abandoned for 80 years.

This Weekend In Houston: I Can’t Fight The Feeling at Wortham Theater

Soul saving and spiritual conditions are the threads that weave a delightful combination in Yolanda Burroughs’ new play "I Can’t Fight The Feeling." This common theme is evidence that Ms. Burroughs' gift is not just holy theatrical, but wholly theatrical works, done with plenty of savvy minus the flash.

The toe tappin score consist of stirring renditions of Spirituals and Gospel classics. They're performed flawlessly by a cast of talented singers and provide the seam that binds each Act of the play together.

If you haven’t checked-out this spectacular production, remember tonight is the final show. It is definitely a must see, makes you laugh, cry, and shout Hallelujah all at the same time, hit play.

There are plenty of tickets on sale online and at all Ticketmaster locations.

Want a fun way to spend Friday, or any night this weekend, out with a group of your good friends? This is it, enjoying one of Houston’s grandest theaters, while experiencing the latest creation from one of the city’s most talented playwrights, Yolanda Burroughs.

Her soul stirring dramatization takes a peak into the lives of some dysfunctional people who can't control their feelings and their endless search for fulfillment and healing.

When “I Can’t Fight The Feeling” opens downtown at the Wortham this weekend, it will make you laugh, cry and feel all of it’s emotions at once. Most of all you’ll be glad you got a chance to see the rousing performance.

The hilarious “I Can't Fight the Feeling" is a sequel to the hit gospel play "But Lord What About Me?"

I already have my tickets and I wouldn't advise waiting until the the last minute to get your tickets. They're available online and at all Ticketmaster locations. Show times and more information is available at the website for "I Can't Fight The Feeling".

Things To Do In Houston This Week: July 08

Improv Houston

Michael Winslow is in town. Who?
His name is not as familiar as his face, but after hearing a couple of the weird noises he makes, you’ll remember how hard this human sound effects machine used to make you laugh.

Winslow brings his stand-up act to The Improv in Houston this week. You’ll get to laugh at more of his funny noisemaking abilities, from beatboxing, and kung fu sounds to Jimi Hendrix, where he impersonates the guitar.

Spaceballs and the Police Academy series are just a few of the shows he entertained us in. He was also the voices for the mogwai and gremlins in the Gremlins series. Recently, Winslow treated us to a fresh dose of his unique talent in a Geico commercial and a just released DVD. Tickets for any of the shows at the Improv or available online at improvhouston.com

Things to Do In Houston This Weekend With a Group of Kids.

Got Kids! I’ve got a great way to get them out of the house. Why not take them to see HITS Theater's presentation of Willy Wonka Jr.

HITS is a training facility for children ages 6-22. It’s also one of the leading performing arts education organizations for young people in the Houston area. They try to inspire and instruct school age students by providing the highest quality performing arts education around.

The positive themes in this musical are taken from the original book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.

The Enigmatic candy manufacturer stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy.

The words and music for this local production are by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley and stage adaptation is by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy A. McDonald.

HITS is located in the Houston’s Historic Heights neighborhood, a couple of miles northwest of Midtown Houston.
