    Activities In Houston

Miller Outdoor Theater in Houston Texas

The 4th of July is full of fun activities in Houston. Parades, picnics and barbecues are favorites on the July 4th holiday. I've got a few parades you can check out that are happening in or near your community in Houston. The neighborhood focus is producing a new breed of events.

A new comer this year is the Texas Heat Music & Arts Festival. A combination of the best in indie, rock and dance all weekend from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m. both days in Jones Plaza in downtown Houston.

    In the North...

Kingwood is one of the Houston communities having their own July 4th Parade.

If you're on the Southend of Houston...

Their is also one in Pasadena called "Fourth Fest." Starting time is 4 p.m. at the Pasadena Convention Center, 7902 Fairmont Parkway. You can participate in tons of activities including games, Kid Zone, hay rides, car show, music, food and fireworks.

For the neighbors in the East.

Checkout the Deer Park parade. It begins at 5 p.m. with a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center, with music by Johnny Dee and The Rocket 88s.

Downtown Houston and Other Firework Celebration

Downtown Houston's annual fireworks are part of the "Freedom Over Texas" celebration. Buffalo Bayou has to be the best viewing area, but people are known to line up on the highways and roadsides and get pretty decent views.

Festival-goers will enjoy a variety of things to do in Houston and throughout the state. Your kids can enjoy free rides, games, face painting, jugglers and more in the Fiesta All American Kids Zone. Adults can inspect some displays of military artifacts and vehicles including representation from all five military branches and more.

If you want to see fireworks this year Houstonians can go just about anywhere in the city to view dazzling colorful explosions shoot across the sky.

Jacinto City and Galena Park's fireworks display is on the Mercury Drive levee. One of the best
locations for viewing the fireworks are Galena Park baseball fields at Main and 18th Street, the Holland Avenue or Lane Street levee.

    Miller Outdoor Theater

If you want an idea of some of the other activities in Houston happening on the fourth? Consider going to Miller Outdoor Theater and listening to the Houston Symphony's musical salute to Independence Day, which concludes with a spectacular fireworks display.
