Events In Houston This Weekend



There are lots of events in Houston each weekend, but we shine our light only on the ones that offer an entertaining, enhancing and enlightening experience.

Ensemble Theater

"The Man Who Saved New Orleans" is currently playing at Midtown Houston's favorite live playhouse, Ensemble Theatre. Acclaimed Houston playwright, Thomas Thomas Meloncon
loosely based this contemporary work upon many of the facts, misinformation and assumptions about one of the worst national disasters in the United States of America.

The drama reveals the dynamics and psyche of a family uprooted by Hurricane Katrina from the Creole soil that gave them strength, family loyalty and purpose.

They struggle to find happiness as they thirst for their former sense life, love and unity after the family finds itself 280 miles west of New Orleans in Houston, Texas.

Houston Auto Show 2009, Reliant Park ,January 24-February 1, 2009.




New cars, supercars and latest concept vehicles from all of the automakers are all under one roof. The Houston Auto Show is the largest auto show in the southwest, finishes it's week long stay in the city.

Automotive enthusiasts attending the 2009 Houston Auto Show will have a plenty to talk about this year, after getting a peak at the array of spectacular concept cars and the latest automotive products.


Festa Di Carnevale, Sunday, February 1 from 3:30-5:30pm at the Italian Cultural and Community Center at 1101 Milford Street near Midtown Houston in the Museum District. Festa di Carnevale" is an Italian festival for children that is full of costumes, parties, and celebrations before the time of "quaresima", a time of quiet introspection 40 days prior to Easter. Parents are encouraged to join in the fun by dressing up as well!

Free Events In Houston This Weekend

Cool events should be entertaining and enriching. The Heritage Society host a free event that promises to be both, Saturday afternoon.

The kid-friendly program commemorates the history of NASA and the Johnson Space Center and is geared so families will have a goodtime experiencing out of this world adventures.

The action-packed weekend event will include:

Exploring the secrets of space in the Discovery Dome planetarium,

Getting airborne in the space station inflatable.

Creating aircraft models and other celestial crafts.

Events In Houston This Weekend

Patches of green, color the banks as they rise like cliffs to provide just one of the many stunning cityviews along the winding route, the Houston Happy Hikers are walking during their 12K hike along the trails
of Buffalo Bayou. The Public is invited to participate in this exhilarating Houston event on January 24, 2009 that starts at Shepard and continues until it reaches the downtown near Sabine Street. Besides the fabulous views here are three more reasons to be a part of this fun occasion.

Trails are wheelchair accessible.
Leashed pets are welcome
Fun activity for the whole family

Annual Trinity Jazzfest In Midtown Houston



If you've never experienced Jazz in an unique setting, come out to Midtown Houston this weekend and allow it's soothing music to awaken the spirit within you.

On the festivals webpage, Father William B. Miller founder of the jazz festival expressed it this way,
“Though jazz in the sacred context may be rare, it is a pairing that makes much sense - theologically, historically, and liturgically."

Houston Events:Chevron- Houston Marathon

The Houston Marathon is Houston's largest single-day sporting event and the nation's premier winter marathon event. It's ranked among the top five marathons in the nation by Ultimate Guide to Marathons for fastest course, organization and crowd support.

Who's Competeing In This Years Houston Marathon?



Deriba Merga the Olympian from Ethopia alongwith No. 1 seed David Cheruiyot are just two of the world-class participants in the weekend Houston event. Cheruiyot won the Houston marathon in 2005 and 2006 and achieved a third victory in last year, in 2008.

This year's marathon harnesses the power of the internet to provide searchable databases for the Houston TX event.

Spectators can view unofficial online results showing details of the race including pace and placement. The database allows you to follow the event on-line and to track multiple participants on the map showing the progress of each runner as they move along the course, in real-time. View course map.

If you plan to meet and greet one or more of the runners after the race officials are directing everyone to meet at the Brown Convention Center.
