Can Radiogasdeal.com save you money on gas?

gas prices

Maybe there are some deals for saving money on your weekly fuel bill, however jumping on just any advertisement that says they'll save you money without doing some research, isn't what I recommend.

Just a quick Google of radiogasdeal.com led to a host of information that leaves more questions than answers about the company. The Tucson, Arizona and Houston Texas areas have been getting a lot of airplay from their ads claiming, they can save money on gas from radiogasdeals.com.

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona issued this statement to their local newspaper, the Arizona Daily Star “We are not saying that Radiogasdeal.com is a scam, but we would urge consumers to use extreme caution,”.

I visited the website and the first thing I noticed is that the radio gas deal website has lots of "red flags". First and foremost, there is no clear contact information if something goes wrong with the order. Then there is the money up front request, to give your credit card information to a company that you or no one else you know have done business with before.

The website owner is listed as a marketing firm out of Richmond, Va., called Free Zone Media and the BBB of Southern Arizona reported that numerous messages left with Free Zone, as well as an attorney in Virginia listed as the company's agent on corporate filings, were not returned. That’s a big red flag for me!

Here’s what they don’t tell you on the radio about the deal. Visitors to the site are required to provide a host of personal information. This is followed by a bunch of surveys until finally you get the "opportunity" to apply for high-interest credit cards or to purchase book and coffee club memberships or entertainment books.
Essentially, you have buy to one of these products, before you'll be eligible for a gas card that will cover the difference between the actual cost of gas and $2.49 a gallon for 15 gallons.

Just take a look at what folks over at the Consumerist and other watchdog websites are saying about ads touting ways to save you money on gas. Most of the companies like Mygallons.com and Radiogasdeals.com seem to leave out some of the facts in their ads.

The BBB discovered that another "save money on gas" website bears watching, MyGallons.com. They claimed (in their press release) to have partnered with US Bank. However, when the BBB called to confirm this, they found out that it wasn't true.

Despite the fact that they have no contractual agreements in place to process transactions, MyGallons is still signing up new customers.

Vanpooling In Houston

vanpooling

What can Houstonians do to temper the high gas prices that are eating away at the family budget? One alternative to consider is joining a vanpool.

Fuel prices typically rise this time of year as more Americans increase their gasoline usage with the start of summer and refineries shut down for routine maintenance.

This year’s increase is also being fueled by rising crude oil prices, which account for roughly half the cost of gasoline. They have recently climbed to an all time high of over $100 per barrel.

People are banning together to combat this new menace to our mobile society.

There are several ways you can get involved. Have you thought about sharing a ride to work with your neighbors. To encourage more riders to participate in the vanpooling programs in Houston, financial incentives are being waved around like flags.

METROMatch is a FREE service that uses an extensive database to match commuters from an eight-county region who live and work near each other.
To receive an incentive, you have to ride the van a minimum of 12 times per month. Missed days due to illness, business trips, holidays and vacation time count toward the 12-ride minimum.

Hitching a ride in a Metro sponsored carpool is ideal if bus service to your neighborhood isn’t very convenient. Sharing a ride in Houston can save you time, money and stress.

Some of the more aggressive ways people in Houston are combating the high cost of petrol, is by joining groups of online protesters. On Facebook there is a group with over 300,000 members who think that boycotting Big Oil will make a difference.

Then there is the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee who have sponsored a “Yes I Have Had Enough” Internet petition to members of the U.S. Senate.

They’re asking Houston residents and other Texans to put Texas Senator John Cornyn on notice. He has reportedly taken over $1,100,000 from oil and gas companies. Their website encourages everyone to send a message reminding him that he is suppose to be working for the voters of the Texas and not Big Oil.

Whether you are interested in carpooling, vanpooling or riding the bus, you can check Rideshare.org to share a ride, save time and money.

Gas Prices: E-mails Encourage Consumer Revolt

“This is not the "DON'T BUY GAS FOR ONE DAY" EMAIL, but it will show you how we can get gas back down to a reasonable price”.

Have you seen this E-mail about the soaring gas prices? Well I got an e-mail from a fellow Houston Community College student that has me seriously wondering if consumers are really going stand up to “Big Oil” ,who continue to make record breaking profits while breaking our pocket books.

Here is a copy for you to read.

THIS IS NOT THE "DON'T BUY GAS FOR ONE DAY" EMAIL, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO A REASONABLE PRICE.

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to over 90 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) .. and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN FOR AT LEAST A MONTH. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Sweet 16 in Houston!

Where else but Texas can you find a stadium big enough to hold the NCAA Men’s Sweet 16 Championship games? It’s one of the biggest college basketball games of the year and Reliant Park will be the battlefield for the game. The stadiums work crews began converting Reliant stadium from its rodeo set-up, after the last musical performance Saturday. Now the rush is on to get the stadium ready for the first practices on Thursday morning.

What’s happening here and in Detroit is the result of the evolution of college sports biggest event. The Houston crowd is not expected to be as big as Detroit’s, so they are cutting off the end zones to create a seating capacity of 45,000. So far, plenty of good seats and tickets are remaining, with only 29,000 tickets sold.
If it's a hotel room that you're looking for take a look these hotel specials in here in Houston.
