Free Events In and Around Midtown Houston

Due to the impending tropical storm, Tuesday night’s performance of “Julius Caesar” has been cancelled, shows will resume Wednesday.

A myriad of events are on tap for the final weeks of summer. Whether you favor the classics or crave the avant-garde, Houston’s theater and arts community will thrill you with all of the fun things you can see and do this week.

Politics, envy and ambition embroil the stage during The Houston Shakespeare Festival. You’ll want to catch both Cymbeline and Julius Caesar which appear on alternate nights during the week-long festival.

Cymbeline, is a great fairy tale for adults where themes of jealousy, fidelity and sophistication are all played out with Shakespeare's customary genius.

Julius, Brutus and most of the cast of the Houston Shakespeare Festival are from the University of Houston’s School of Theater and Dance.
