Rodeo In Houston
Some of the things to do that people from all over the world come to the rodeo in Houston to enjoy are the livestock judging competitions, bronco and bull riding cowboys and the Houston rodeo concert. The rodeo is about more than just looking at the young bronco buster trying to stick like glue to horses who seem determined to send them hurling into the dirt. It's a potpourri of competitions going on all around the stadium, including a tasty barbecue cookoff and a huge carnival with all kinds of hair raising rides.
Livestock Competitions
People begin arriving at the center early in the day just to see the livestock competitions. It's best to arrive there a least one or two hours before the rodeo begins. That will give you some time to walk around Reliant center and view the steers, sheep and other Texas farm animals in their pens and cages being groomed and feed while their young owners nervously await a chance to parade their livestock show entrants before a panel of judges. You may be able to ask some of the young farmers a few questions about raising their animals.
Go Tejano Day At The Rodeo
When Tejano Day kicks off, there will be tons of entertainment all around the grounds of the stadium. To showcase their cultural heritage the list below shows just a sampling of the Tejano events scheduled for the rodeo.
Mariachi Contest
The Hometown Boys
Tejano Battle of the Bands
Everyone enjoys the Fiesta Charra. It's a vibrant and colorful event punctuated by traditional Mexican folk dance, fabulous music and lots of beautiful horses and riders in the Reliant Center's Main Arena.
