Greek Festival

An annual Houston event this weekend is the Greek Festival. It's one of the activities in Houston that we all look forward to each year. Make sure you tour the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral complex near Midtown Houston. The tours consist of a video presentation on the history of Orthodox Christianity and our Annunciation parish, followed by a question and answer period with the Cathedral clergy. Learn the symbolism of the beautiful Byzantine-style Cathedral.

For those of you not familiar with Greek Orthodoxy here's a little background info.

Its a denomination that's has a rich liturgical life and a faithfulness to the apostolic tradition.
They have held on to the traditions and practices of the ancient Church. Their worship services are filled with the same pomp and celebrations the early Christians used during the first 10 centuries.
The Orthodox Church remains one of today's invaluable treasures, rich in liturgical tradition from the earliest centuries of Christianity. Their Church membership totals nearly 300 million.

The dance is a living vital force in the Greek way of life, and its spirit brings people together with a true feeling of camaraderie. Cool Activities in Houston This Weekend

30th Annual Festival Chicano

"Little Joe y La Familia", Tejano legend "Roberto Pulido y Los Clasicos", renown accordionist "Joel Guzman & Sara Fox", and "Norma Zenteno." Will blow the roof off the Miller Outdoor stage this weekend in Houston.

Chicano music was shaped by a variety of styles from Mexican rancheras, mariachi, big band, to rhythm and blues, country, rock and roll and many others. It is a popular and unique American sound!

Tejano,Conjunto, Mariachi and Orchestra music will be blasting through the park during one of the oldest festivals of its type in Houston.

This weekend two of the best-known soulmen team up to delight the crowd in Houston with their soothing ballads and sexy songs at the Arena Theater. These two singers are regarded as two of the dominant sounds from the 80's and 90's music.

Freddie Jackson and Howard Hewitt in concert. You may have been wondering what happened to former Shalamar lead singer Howard Hewitt? He has been busy lately, he's recorded a Gospel album and Christmas songs. Another smooth and silky voice singer we haven't heard a whole lot from is Freddie Jackson. He's still singing and steadily building his expansive music career.
