Miller Outdoor Theater
Miller Outdoor Theater host two fantastic Houston free events this weekend June 12-13, 2009. If you haven't been to Miller Theater lately, or have never been there, it's in Hermann Park, next door to the Houston Zoo. It's close to that big statue of Sam Houston sitting on his horse. The outdoor theater one of my favorite Houston theaters because there is so much to do in and around the park.
The Blew Notes Trio
Renowned spoken word, visual art, and jazz musical performances featuring poet and spoken word artist, Abiodun Oyewole. Oyewole. We are lucky to have this great poet in our midst this weekend. He's considered one of the world's best in poetry circles through the US and abroad. He just finished a gig at Portland Oregon’s Shakespeare Festival and a tour of Europe and Mexico, performing and presenting lectures on poetry and politics.
Summer Sampler of Dance
Houston Met will delight the Miller Theater audience with the world premiere of "Elevated." This new work was created for the company by renowned choreographer Salim Gauwloos. The audience can expect to see many of the favorites from the Houston Met repertoire.
