Fun Things To Do In Houston Downtown District This Weekend
There are always some fun things to do in Houston's downtown district on weekends. You can bet May 16th & 17th, when Houston Black Expo 2009 kicks off, it will be a soulful and exciting Houston event that people will talk about for the rest of the year.
Houston Women's Event
If there are any ladies on da blog, you should use one of your "get out of a date free cards" to skip-out on the Expo till Sunday. Instead drop in on the 2nd Annual Women's Empowerment Conference @Renaissance Houston Hotel. A select group of motivational speakers want to inspire and educate you on how to increase your knowledge, self-esteem and the outlook for your future.

(Meanwhile, back at the ranch in downtown Houston)HBE sponsor this year's Annual Community Breakfast. Then 10:00 am - 11:30 am get ready to take your career to the next level after being informed on "Reinventing Yourself to Hook a Dream Job/Career fair" at George R Brown Convention Center.
The action doesn't stop there, before the day is over you could get in on: the comedic talents of Tommy Davidson.
Another part of the Expo features the National Black Book Festival. The Black book-fest creates its on brand of excitement this weekend. This ain't your momma's book fair! They plan to have a Youth summit and great Gospel music all under one roof.
The Youth Summit (9:30 am - 4:00pm) will put your teens in-step when Drumlines from the Texas and Louisiana do their thing at the expo.
Breakfast Klub Events
Authors, publisher and book lovers from around the nation will connect at several events in Houston this weekend. The Breakfast Klub host a "Get Acquainted Breakfast" with KPFT radio host Akua Fayette.
Houston Gospel Competition
Sunday May 17, 2009 the fun continues @5:00 pm with an entertaining line-up. The American Heart Association and Kirk Franklin's FIGHT OF YOUR LIFE Gospel Competition.
It's a good thing that the Expo/Book festival last until Sunday, it will take an entire weekend to enjoy all of this dynamite entertainment and fun things to do, in Houston's downtown district this weekend.
