Free Houston Events-Januray 2009
Don't you really love it when you get a good deal on something of value. Getting freebies is even better. I've made my rounds of the many event schedules around town to find the best free event in Houston for this week.
It's really a toss up between the honorable Madeline Albright's lecture at Houston Baptist University, and The Blue Willow Bookshops visit from touring author, Adam Shepard.
Houston audiences will be delighted with the vivid story-telling from an ex-refugee. The former U.S. Secretary of State who overcame the challenges of being a young refugee, interjects humor, insight and eloquence into the no-holds barred accounts of her life and career at the highest levels of the American government. This Houston event was postponed because of Hurricane Ike and may already be full, so visit www.hmh.org to register online. For more information, call 713-942-8000, ext. 100 or e-mail events@hmh.org. call for more details.
Listening to Adam talk about his book, Scratch Beginnings, will be a fascinating event Tuesday evening!
His sophomore release documents the humbling experiences he encountered, after deciding to pursue, the self imposed goal of bootstrapping, his way out of homelessness. Anyone purchasing a copy of his book at Blue Willow can get it signed after the talk.
