Cooler days will be here again, making it easier to persuade your family, crew or group to take daily jogs, jaunts or just hanging-out in and around Midtown Houston.
There's lots of cost-free activities for groups or individuals to participate in or just sit back, relax and observe.
Topping my schedule of "things to do" in October, are three events that anchor the Discovery Green "Entertainment Series," Art in the Park, Fresh Fridays and Sunday's in the Park.
Art in The Park
The artist from the Community Artist Collective will be at Discovery Green 5-7 pm every Thursday, helping Houstonians wake up their creative juices by providing basic art instruction.
Here's a unique opportunity to meet members of (C.A.C) the collective, who are some of the areas most talented artist.
It's not just a place to dump the kids while you shop, aspiring artist of every age-group are invited. A limited amount of supplies will be available for about 20 people that may want a few pointers on how to awaken the artist within.
Fresh Fridays Presented by the Fresh Arts Coalition,
Two of Houston's best-loved performance groups, Mildred's Umbrella and the Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, serve up two of Shakespeare's classic works.
Mildred's Umbrella, puts their spin on " A Midsummer Night's Dream" starring Bottom and his "rude mechanicals."
Walsh's troupe offers a preview of the tragedy Titus Andronicus, before taking it to the Hobby Center stage, next week.
Sundays in the Park
Wind down after the weekend, in Houston's urban playground Sunday afternoon, 3-5 pm.
The divine rhythm, united motion (D.R.U.M.) African percussion ensemble, brings-on their world music sound to spread peace love and happiness.
The repertoire of these international musicians is an eclectic brand of traditional drum suites, sprinkled with storytelling that surely can chase away stress or the blues of "back to work Monday's."
