If your budget calls for exciting free outdoor events, this is the weekend to party in Houston. Let's keep on praying that the on again, off again, rain won't put a damper on the any of the activities happening at The Miller Outdoor Theater.

Two free star packed tribute shows will honor local jazz greats including Conrad Johnson and the soulful sounds of Luther, Barry White and Gerald Levert this weekend in Houston.

Friday 28th August the “Jazz Tribute to The Big Band Era – A Classical Tea With A Twist of Jazz”. This phenomenal jazz show will showcases the finest jazz and classical gifted youth and adult artists in the state of Texas.

Live music performances throughout the nite can be expected from headliners and former protégés of Prof Johnson, including former members of his infamous Kashmere Stage Band. Artist expected in the ine up: Joe Carmouche, The Conrad Johnson Youth Orchestra, The Conrad Johnson Jazz Heritage Orchestra featuring Carolyn Blanchard, and a presentation by Ronnie Laws.

August 23: Keeping the Music Alive

The other free event you don't want to miss this weekend is Saturday's "Keeping the Music Alive".

The soulful concert pays tribute to the late R&B artists, Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert and Barry White. Each made a significant impact not only on ethnic communities but the world of music during their careers.
