Black History Exhibits in Midtown Houston
This month Black History is the theme at a several places in Midtown. HCC-Central Campus will be hosting several programs and displaying entries from the 12th Annual Citywide African-American Art Exhibition at HCC-Central/Fine Arts Department, 3517 Austin3517 Austin. The Museum of Fine Arts and Rice University will also be apart of the nine venues where the art will be displayed.
The African American Art Advisory Association (Five-A) of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, sponsors the annual African-American art exhibit.
The media represented are photography, paintings, drawings, sculpture, mixed media, and assemblage. The show also features fashion as part of the eclectic mix of artwork.
The exhibition’s goal is to introduce underrepresented artists to the community and help to further their careers in the visual arts by showing their work at various public venues. If you see an piece that you like, you may want to grab it, most of the artwork will be for sale.
